Manual Optical Receiver for Fiber Optic or Remote Triggering DS Strobes with Pre-Flash Learning Mode

Trigger your Ikelite DS-series strobe off any camera or strobe flash. The Optical Converter simply attaches to the strobe's electrical bulkhead in place of a sync cord connector.

The Optical Receiver with Pre-Flash Learning supports manual exposure modes as set on the attached DS strobe. TTL exposure mode is not supported.

Camera Compatibility

This product is intended for use when triggering a strobe by a camera's built-in flash. This is the correct sensor for most compact digital cameras from Canon and Sony including (but not limited to) the Canon G7X-series and the Sony RX100-series cameras.

This Receiver may provide intermittent operation when triggering via a non-pre-flash camera or an LED trigger. Refer to these recommendations to select the correct receiver for your application:

For use with most Olympus, OM Systems, or Panasonic cameras, use the RC1 Olympus & Panasonic TTL Receiver for DS Strobes instead.

For use with the Canon TT5 TTL Transmitter, use the RC2 TTL Receiver for DS Strobes instead.

For use with LED flash triggers, such the Manual Fiber Optic Transmitter or the LED triggers used in Nauticam housings, use the Non-Pre-Flash Version instead.

Fiber Optic Cord Triggering

The removable fiber optic port allows for the attachment of a compatible fiber optic cord (see compatibility below).

Remote Triggering

The enlarged slave window provides approximately 90 degrees field of view for remote triggering. Or thread on the included fiber optic port for the attachment of and triggering via a fiber optic cord.

The Optical Receiver can be extended using the optional 3-foot Extension Cord for creative backlighting in wrecks, caves, and pool studio set-ups. It can also be used above water for studio photography work.

Automatic Pre-Flash Recognition

The Optical Receiver automatically configures itself for compatibility with both pre-flash and non pre-flash camera modes. No setting of small switches or confusion over number of pre-flashes. Simply turn on your strobe and take one picture to configure.

An individual Optical Receiver is needed for each strobe. Use of multiple strobes requires one Optical Receiver per strobe. The Optical Receiver supports all Ikelite DS strobes.

Connector Material

This product features a hard anodized aluminum connector. If you have an older strobe with a nickel plated brass (silver color) bulkhead, then we recommend returning your strobe to have the bulkhead updated to anodized aluminum to prevent seizing of the connectors

International Shipping

Yes, we ship to Australia! We use DHL Express, which should take 1-3 business days depending on your shipping address. Our checkout will automatically determine your shipping cost.

You can find more information about shipping on our FAQs page.

How long will it take for my order to arrive after I make payment?

That depends on where you live and whether we have an item in stock or not. While we do have many items in stock, we don't carry everything. (For example, we do not stock most housings or ports as there are just too many!) If you need an item in a hurry, it's a good idea to contact us and find out if your item is in stock, or if we can get it in a hurry - we often can!

If we have it in stock, we can usually send it out as soon as we receive payment (1-3 business days), or you can pick it up. If an item is not in stock, we'll need to order it from our suppliers, which means it can take 1-2 weeks to arrive at your door (usually closer to a week).

Sometimes delivery can take longer, if our manufacturers are out of stock, for example, but this is unusual - we let customers know as soon as possible if something like this happens.

How do you ship my NZ orders?

We use New Zealand Post Courier to ship orders. New Zealand Post aims for next-day delivery nationwide between major towns and cities in the North Island. South Island delivery can take two days. If you require next-day delivery in South Island, choose the express shipping option for the South Island. If you spend over $250 get your shipping for free!
