Ikelite 200DLM/C TTL Underwater Housing for the Canon EOS 200D Rebel SL2

The Canon EOS 200D Rebel SL2 is a welcome upgrade to the hugely popular EOS 100D Rebel SL1 Compact DSLR Camera. What makes this system so different from mirrorless and even other DSLR systems? The fact that the camera body is compact and lightweight, ergonomically shaped like a DSLR, and capable of accepting Canon EF mount lenses.

Whether you've been shooting a full-frame DSLR or a compact point-and-shoot, the EOS 200D Rebel SL2 may be the best next step. This system combines fast focus, 24 megapixel resolution, TTL exposure, and great battery life into a housing that's half the size and weight of all other DSLR models.

Ergonomics and handling

This powerful compact housing includes all of our latest upgrades to controls and ergonomics. The shutter lever has been updated to a more sensitive and natural feeling curved design. The standard control hugs the side of the housing for comfortable use when hand holding. It can be easily extended using the optional Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 to put it within easy reach when using a right-hand quick release handle.

New soft-touch control knobs add comfort and extra grip to the most commonly used functions. Our push buttons have been redesigned to reduce weight and salt build-up. The back of the housing features laser engraved control symbols which will never fade or fall off.

The camera mount is front-loading for easy installation and removal. A small mounting plate attaches to the bottom of the camera and secures in the front of the housing. The camera mounting plate does not need to be removed from the camera for surface use or when changing the battery or memory cards. The mounting plate features a 1/4-20 threaded mount on the bottom so that it can be attached to a tripod on the surface.

Confidence

The unique rear seal design prevents accidental twisting or stretching of the o-ring for simple and confident assembly. We have eliminated the need for an o-ring groove or channel which can trap sand, dirt, or debris. Two double-passivated stainless steel locking lid snaps are simple to use and virtually unbreakable. The clear back allows you to see the o-ring form a solid, watertight seal as it closes.

A spare 1/2-20 threaded accessory port is provided on the side of the housing for easily installation of the optional Vacuum Kit # 47012. A vacuum kit allows you to pressurize the housing to check for proper assembly prior to entering the water.

Viewfinders

The included Supereye Viewfinder provides an enhanced view of the camera's optical viewfinder when viewed through a dive mask. The viewfinder removes quickly and easily for the attachment of an optional Straight Magnified Viewfinder # 6890 or 45° Magnified Viewfinder (Type 1) # 6891.1.

The camera's large, super-bright LCD screen is viewable edge-to-edge through the back of the housing.

True TTL exposure

Light is absorbed as it travels through even short distances underwater, making colors appear dull or monochromatic. To preserve the natural colors of your subject, it's important to stay within arm's reach—no more than 3-4 feet (1m) away. For the best results, we recommend adding an external flash or high-powered constant-on light if you'll be diving regularly below 15' (3m).

An integrated TTL circuit is fine-tuned to the Canon EOS 200D Rebel SL2 flash exposure protocol for the most accurate exposure possible. The circuit is powered by the strobe for zero maintenance and no batteries to change. Exposure compensation in TTL mode is supported using the camera's built-in control. The TTL system can be used with current model Ikelite DS series strobes. Refer to the Strobe Compatibility section for serial number requirements.

SEA&SEA, INON, and Nikonos strobes are not capable of powering the circuitry. SEA&SEA, INON, and Nikonos strobes will still enjoy fast recycle times and improved battery life, but must be used in manual exposure modes only.

This housing provides a direct electrical connection to the camera's external flash hot shoe. Cord attachment is as easy as screwing in a light bulb, and the threaded fit prevents accidental detachment during use. The bulkhead connection has been moved to the top of the housing to keep cords out of your way and reduce strain on the cord ends. A variety of sync cord terminations are available for Ikelite, SEA&SEA, INON, or Nikonos strobes for ultimate versatility.

The built-in flash is not usable in this installation. Triggering of fiber optic strobes is not supported at this time. A strobe must be connected by electrical sync cord.

A bright constant-on video light can be used instead of or in addition to a flash. A constant-on light is not as bright as a strobe flash. Constant-on lights do provide added versatility because they can be used for focus assist and for improved colors when shooting video.

There is a simple rule that brighter is better underwater. A high-quality lighting system can produce magazine quality results with almost any camera system.

Two 1/4-20 threaded mounting points are included on the bottom of the housing for the attachment of a tray and handle system. Handles provide improved ergonomics underwater and are the foundation for your lighting mounts. The Tray with Dual Quick Release Handles # 9523.64 is the most popular choice for both handling and attachment of accessories. We recommend installing the Shutter Trigger Extension # 4077.93 when using a right-hand handle.

Port System

It couldn't be more simple to change ports than this system—just press the port on and tighten three thumb screws. Feel positive reinforcement that the port is secure with simple parts you can trust in a remote location.

This housing accepts ports from our DLM Port System to accommodate a selection of the best zoom, macro, and wide angle lenses for underwater use. Our custom optical grade acrylic domes components provide the color, clarity, and durability of glass at a fraction of the travel weight and cost.

The included Dome Port with Zoom # 5516.15 and Zoom Gear # 5515.11 are designed for use with the Canon 18-55mm f/4-5.6 STM lens. Optional zoom gears are available for the Canon 10-18mm STM and popular Tokina 10-17mm Fisheye lenses.

Durability and corrosion free performance

Our white ABS-PC blend housing provides strength and corrosion free performance year with minimal maintenance. The specially formulated color deflects the sun to keep your camera running cooler, longer. Compared to black or clear housings, the light color provides superior contrast for enhanced view of the camera, LCD screen, and o-ring seal.

Ikelite products are designed, built and tested in the USA. We use locally sourced, top-grade materials. Our housings are built by hand and individually tested for fit and function. Every unit is water pressure tested to 200 feet (60m). We back our products with over 50 years of experience and the best reputation for service within the dive industry.

How long will it take for my order to arrive after I make payment?

That depends on where you live and whether we have an item in stock or not. While we do have many items in stock, we don't carry everything. If you need an item in a hurry, it's a good idea to contact us and find out if your item is in stock.

If we have it in stock, we can usually send it out as soon as we receive payment, or you can pick it up. If an item is not in stock, we'll need to order it from our suppliers, which means it can take 1-2 weeks to arrive at your door (usually closer to a week).

Sometimes delivery can take longer, if our manufacturers are out of stock, for example, but this is unusual - we let customers know as soon as possible if something like this happens.

Update 18/12/2020: There are some production delays at present that may increase wait times on items like housings. We apologise for the inconvenience. If there are any delays with your order, we will communicate this immediately.

How do you ship my orders?

We use New Zealand Post and CourierPost to ship orders. Our default is courier, though you may organise an alternative with us by contacting us directly. CourierPost aims for next day delivery nationwide between major towns and cities in the North Island. South Island delivery can take two days. If you require next-day delivery in South Island, choose the express shipping option for the South Island. If you spend over $250 get your shipping for free!

Covid-19

Hygiene basics such as hand washing, coughing/sneezing protocols as well as the wearing of appropriate protective equipment such as face masks.

We are continuing to follow the regular updates to government health guidelines and initiatives regarding Covid-19.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you wish to discuss any aspect of our delivery service via Courier Post New Zealand.

We wish you all the best during these challenging times.

When you buy something from us, the price is literally exactly what it says on the tin.

If you buy something from an overseas supplier, that is most definitely not the case. While the product might seem like a great deal on screen, it's important to understand customs and import costs.

In addition to the ticket price on an overseas purchase, whatever the exchange rate is on the day (this can fluctuate wildly - trust us, we know), there are also tariffs, GST and border processing fees. This can easily add upwards of 25% to the ticket price. Items costing over NZ$1000 also incur import entry transaction fees.

In addition to these extra costs, Customs clearance can also cause delays. Sea Tech has been importing for years - we've got this down to a fine art, and we've built relationships with customs that help our items clear quickly.

By buying from Sea Tech, you avoid all the headaches, delays and extra costs. We handle all this stuff for you, so you don't even have to think about it.
